Disposable

My work is often disposable.

My clients prefer it that way.

It is upsetting to some in my profession - they resent that their efforts don’t become the basis for the future of their client’s business.

But I turn this to a competitive advantage.

Sometimes (often) the problem is a temporary issue. As soon as X occurs, the problem will stop happening (or stop being a problem). Because I understand that…I develop a reliable, easy-to-use system, and get it running QUICKLY. I work with my client to determine how “bullet-proof” the application really needs to be - often working out compromises between what they “wish” it could do and what they “wish” it will cost (in both time and money). I’m REALLY PROUD of how my client’s are helped by my efforts and expertise. I’m OCCASIONALLY PROUD of the programming itself.

*Client’s want their problem solved - anything more is about me*

We’ll have to talk about this tomorrow (or today since it’s 2:10am). Maybe this can be the discussion to keep me awake. We’ll have to be drinking lots of coffee and I’ll be jamming to some Collective Soul in some headphones!
