JUNE, 2007: 1 (ONE) Mortgage Payment

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

We sold our old house.
Bought a new one on December 30, 2005.   Moved January 17, 2006.  Put the old house on the market March 1, 2006.  Sold it May 11, 2007.
Mowed two yards every week last year.  Paid utilities at two homes for more than a year.  Paid property taxes and insurance too.
Have to remind myself [...]

You have GOT to be kidding

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Last Friday evening:
1) Pickup J after Cross-Country practice (approx. 15 minutes in rush-hour traffic each way)
2) Drop K off at high-school for middle-school-band participation in homecoming game (25 minutes round-trip)
3) Drop J off at Cross-Country team dinner (approx. 10 minutes each way)
4) Take K jacket and cash (it’s REALLY chilly) 50 minutes, including waiting for [...]

Gettysburg

Monday, August 7th, 2006

Jeremy and I just returned from Gettysburg, PA.
Like thousands of others, we read Killer Angels by Michael Shaara and wanted to go see the place where the events depicted ocurred.

This was a guys-only weekend which doubled as a very good opportunity for J to get some significant interstate driving practice in.
VERY GOOD TIME - [...]

Family Vacation

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

Summary:
Great Plains are extensive. Allow much time for the crossing. Take good reading material. Consider placing on the dashboard in front of the driver - just insure that said driver glances up at each page turn to see if a curve in the road or other road condition may warrant actual attention.

Sunburned

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

It hurts.
But I have to say: I’m glad for it.
Katie had her district-middle-school softball tournament today and somehow, despite all the patterns of the past 8 weeks it was sunny! Sunny and hot!
It was DELICIOUS sitting in the stands at Pike High School watching my girl play (REALLY WELL, I MIGHT ADD).
Her [...]

Displacement Vol 2

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

(update to: Displacement)
Started looking at office space. Decided there was NO way I wanted to pay another $600.00 per month (six hundred dollars) for space I sometimes will go weeks without visiting (much of my time is at client sites). Started thinking about adding space on the back of our house. [...]

5 Hands (occasionally it doesn’t appear accidental. usually: “Oh, [...]

Evil Creatures: ZERO / ME: 5

Thursday, September 22nd, 2005

Do NOT be fooled by their ‘cuteness’. Be very wary of their ‘cheeriness’ and playfullness. There is a serious danger - possibly in your own yard.
Like many, I found the chipmunks who darted about our yard welcome neighbors. I figured: they eat seeds and plants and I have plenty to go [...]

No Freaking Way!!!

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Working on my calendar (trying to figure out what critical deadlines I’ve already missed, and which ones I’m about to miss). Realized we are coming up on the last week of June. It isn’t that we haven’t done a bunch already, but this is not what I want my summer to feel like!
Done:
Jeremy [...]

Sarajevo

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

Please pray for my brother-in-law with the USAF. He’s just arrived in Sarajevo and will be serving on an EU base (previously NATO operation, still maintains a small US contingent in support of the ongoing mission). His family is remaining in the Azores (sight of our family vacation this summer). Pray for [...]
